John Hunter Nemechek is back in business in the NASCAR Truck Series, scoring his first victory of the 2022 Season at Darlington Raceway on Friday, May 6th. Leading a race total of 69-laps and clinching a spot in the NASCAR playoffs with his victory, Nemechek added to his series win total.

Clearly the dominate driver of the 2021 NASCAR Truck Series season, winning 5 races and a visit to the Championship 4, definitely had a poor start to this year. In the first-three races of the season, Nemechek finished no better than 24th in all three events, despite winning the pole in one of them. After that however, Nemechek has yet to finish lower than 4th in the past-4 races, definitely gaining momentum to chase down the regular season points lead.

NASCAR Cup Series regular Ross Chastain made yet another start for Neice Motorsports and led 46 total laps during the stock truck race, unfortunately finishing 25th after a bad restart to begin NASCAR Overtime. Chastain was the only other driver to lead more than 10-laps for the evening.

There were a few other truckers who had a very good race at Darlington Raceway. Young driver Carson Hocevar tied his best series finish once again, scoring another runner-up finish. Part-timer Parker Kligerman won the 1st Stage and gained a good number of points with a final finish of 5th.

A race total of 10 caution flags, was not necessarily a new event at Darlington Raceway, as the egg-shaped oval's nickname is "Too Tough to Tame". Seven drivers fell victim to the very tricky track, being scored with a DNF while others got many stripes on the sides of their race trucks.
