Nothing could stop a very fast No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro of Justin Allgaier in the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series Darlington Throwback race: not even bad battery that caused him to start the event at the tail end of the 38-car field. It was safe to say, that Justin Allgaier had worked hard for his first checkered flag of the season, and first in an entire year.

Yes, the last time Justin Allgaier won a NASCAR Xfinity Series race was in the 2021 Darlington Throwback race, when he beat teammate Josh Berry for the win. Well, that was 34 starts ago. Allgaier again held of a teammate for the victory this year as well; as Noah Gragson was hot on his tail, hungry for his third win of the season.

Noah Gragson, who was trying to win at Darlington Raceway for the second consecutive time, won both of the Stages in the process, gaining valuable points for the regular season and later in the playoffs.

Surprisingly, the event ended under regulation, completing the 147 scheduled laps without overtime. There was a total of 8 cautions, which is in the normal range for the egg-shaped track. Only the three cars of Sheldon Creed, Myatt Snider, and Joe Graf, Jr. did not finish the race; leaving 35-cars to reach the checkered flag, and 33 of those were scored on the lead lap.
