ARCA Mendards Series |
Last night, Ty Gibbs had clinched the 2021 ARCA Menard's Series championship by rolling off of pit road at Kansas Speedway.
The rookie driver took a staggering 10 trips to victory lane throughout the series' 20 race season, just short of the series' all-time record of 11 victories by a single driver in a single season. Gibbs led a total 1,689 laps, with only a single DNF.
Ty is the grandson of NASCAR Cup Series Hall of Fame team owner, Joe Gibbs. I am sure he will land a ride somewhere at his grandfather's Xfinity team for the 2022 season, as Ty drove the part-time No. 54 car to victory lane now 4 times this season. All of that, is quite a achievement for the 19 year-old driver, and will be interesting what his future holds.
