Tony Stewart wins SRX race at Knoxville

Camping World SRX Series

Tony Stewart has officially won the Camping World SRX Series’ second race, which took place on the dirt surface at Knoxville Raceway in Iowa. This race marks Stewart’s first victory at this track.

The Camping World SRX Series’ second race did not disappoint, with dirt racing agents like Scott Bloomquist, Tony Stewart, and Hailie Deegan showing their clear advantage. Alongside them we saw some not so experienced drivers like Michael Waltrip, and Ernie Francis Jr. learn dirt racing along the way, as Waltrip was able to finish 5th (after a strong battle for the lead with Stewart), and Francis Jr. would finish 3rd (after barely losing 2nd to Hailie Deegan). The youngest driver in tonight’s race was Hailie Deegan, who was making one of her two scheduled starts in the series this season, as she fills in for Tony Kanaan who has prior commitments. Deegan proved herself tonight as she finished runner up to arguably one of stock car racing’s greatest drivers.

One man who had an unfortunate end to his race was Bill Elliott. For the second time in only the series’ two races he has suffered the same mechanical failure to his fuel fuel pump. The exact issue which caused the failure is still yet to be determined, though hopefully his day will end under better circumstances as the series heads Eldora Speedway next week. Another man who ended his day under similar circumstances was Paul Tracy. Tracy’s No. 13 had speed, and he ran one heck of a race, until he was involved in a series of crashes, and the car’s engine temperatures spiked to unsafe levels. While Tracy’s wild, beating and banging racing style may be to blame for the fact that he was involved in these crashes, it is undoubtedly unfortunate that Paul Tracy will have to settle with a poor finish for a second week in a row. This puts him in a crucial place for his chances of winning the championship.

Next week the Camping World SRX Series will head to Tony Stewart’s very own Eldora Speedway which has a dirt racing surface. Be sure to tune into CBS, next Saturday, June 26th, at 8:00 PM to watch race 3 out of 6 in the Camping World SRX Series’ inaugural season.
