Ryan Preece has won the “Rackley Roofing” 200 at Nashville Superspeedway, scoring his 1st NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory in only his series debut.
Ryan Preece, a NASCAR Cup Series regular has struggled for the past several years competing against stock car racing’s most talented drivers, though coming down to the Truck Series for the first time Preece showed the skill he has built up in the NASCAR Cup Series. Driving a decent truck (at best), and having never driven at Nashville, Ryan Preece amazed many fans.
Drivers like Derek Kraus, Chandler Smith, and Grant Enfinger looked like possible winners but each one had some sort of downfall. Derek Kraus, who won stage 1, had a tire go down with 39 laps to go. This tire ultimately ended Kraus’ spectacular day, as his Toyota Tundra took a turn into the wall. Chandler Smith who ran well in this race, scored a stage win in stage 2. Shortly after that stage win Smith dropped to around 5th place, and would then later on finish 13th. Of the three drivers mentioned, Grant Enfinger had the greatest chance of winning this race as he lead the field with 7 laps to go. In this instance Enfinger had a lot of speed, however Ryan Preece had more know how, and was able to just barely snag the lead from Enfinger. While Grant Enfinger would finish well, with a 3rd place finish, it likely wasn’t what the No. 98 team was looking for.
While Ryan Preece got the most attention for his victory, he wasn’t the only Cup Series driver making a one off start. William Byron came to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this weekend at Nashville to get some practice before the cup race. Byron drove the No. 27 Rackley W.A.R. Silverado, and unfortunately did not complete this race due to engine issues. Byron would finish 36th, with a DNF in his only series start since 2016.
In this race, Derek Kraus won stage 1, and Chandler Smith won stage 2.
