Bristol Motor Speedway |
For the first time since 1970, the NASCAR Cup Series will return to dirt racing. The Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway will take place on March 28th, and will be aired live on FOX at 3:30 PM EST.
Now coming into this race there are some drivers, who have never driven on a dirt racing surface before, while others have had experience and success on dirt. This race will come down to the drivers who have dirt experience, they will dominate the Food City Dirt Race.
Drivers that have a good chance at winning this weekend:
- Christopher Bell [No. 20 Toyota / Joe Gibbs Racing] - Bell has ran, and won, in multiple dirt races, including 3 consecutive Chili Bowl wins. So don't underestimate the No. 20 car on dirt as we head to Bristol.
- Kyle Larson [No. 5 Chevrolet / Hendrick Motorsports] - Larson is the most recent Chili Bowl Nationals winner, and in total has more than one Chili Bowl win. Larson also scored 46 victories in 2020 driving primarily Sprint cars on dirt. Now driving at Hendrick Motorsports, we’ve seen lots of speed in the No. 5 car. He is definitely a threat to win the Bristol Dirt Race.
- Stewart Friesen [No. 77 Chevrolet / Spire Motorsports] - In his first ever NASCAR Cup Series race, could the talented dirt driver win at Bristol Dirt? Friesen will be running the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race the night before, also on dirt, meaning this talented dirt driver
- Chase Briscoe [No. 14 Ford / Stewart-Haas Racing] - Briscoe could be one of the only current SHR drivers to be one to watch in this historical race. He has some dirt racing experience, so that will most definitely help.
- Tyler Reddick [No. 8 Chevrolet / Richard Childress Racing] - Reddick is another driver who grew up on dirt tracks. Reddick could win his first career, NASCAR Cup Series victory, at the upcoming Food City Dirt Race.
Drivers who could have a decent race:
- Bubba Wallace [No. 23 Toyota / 23XI Racing]
- Austin Dillon [No. 3 Chevrolet / Richard Childress Racing]
- Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. [No. 47 Chevrolet / JTG Daugherty Racing]
- Chase Elliott [No. 9 Chevrolet / Hendrick Motorsports]
