While race teams prepare for 300-miles of racing action in Las Vegas, one NASCAR driver is shining light on a childhood leukemia patient.

Ryan Ellis and the No. 43 Alpha Prime Racing team will be showing support for Zachary, a 6-year-old boy battling childhood leukemia. The team will do so by featuring Zachary's name along the passenger side name-rail of the No. 43 Camaro.

Ellis issued a video to call attention to Zachary, and his family’s efforts.

Originally hoping to attend the “Alsco Uniforms” 300, Ellis says that Zachary will be absent this weekend after a recent hospitalization. He explained that Zachary has contracted an infection, which could be serious to his condition.

Sharing the cancer patient's story, Ellis also shared a GoFundMe link aiming to raise money for the family’s expenses.

"Just help him out however you can whether it's just sending a message, a little bit of money or, you know whatever you guys can do" Ellis said.

Ellis' No. 43 has featured two other children on its name rail this season, without much attention brought to it. Ellis says that he brings attention to this weekend's recipient due to his recent worsening condition.
