In collaboration with Richard Childress Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing, the veteran driver will bring a throwback livery to what will be his final All-Star Race as a full-time driver.
This paint scheme is reminiscent of No. 29 race car that Harvick first piloted in 2001, when thrust into the NASCAR Cup Series to fill the shoes of the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Complete with the correct number and font, Harvick’s final ride in the No. 29 will happen with near replication.
One detail of this paint scheme that stands apart from the look Harvick piloted 22 years ago is the sponsorship from the Anheuser-Busch. A period correct Busch Light logo is featured on the hood and rear quarter panels of the Ford Mustang stock car.
The Busch Light logo does not resemble the GM Goodwrench logo that did adorn the No. 29 car in 2001, though it is one of the only design aspects that stands apart.
“Looking back on it now, I realize the importance of getting in the Cup car, and then I wound up winning my first race at Atlanta in the 29 car after Dale’s death. The significance and the importance of keeping that car on the racetrack and winning that race early at Atlanta – knowing now what it meant to the sport, and just that moment in general of being able to carry on – was so important” said Harvick in a prepared statement by Stewart-Haas Racing.
To Stock Car Media’s knowledge, there are no plans for the No. 4 to enter this race.
