NASCAR’s Darrell Wallace Jr., better known as “Bubba” Wallace has extended his stay with Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing. Wallace and the team have agreed to a multi-year extension to drive the No. 23 Toyota.

Bubba Wallace first joined 23XI Racing in the fall of 2020, leaving his now former Richard Petty Motorsports team, and joining the groundbreaking collaboration of basketball legend Michel Jordan, and NASCAR superstar, Denny Hamlin. Competing in his first races with the team in 2021, Wallace managed to score three top-five finishes, and the team’s first victory at Talladega last fall. This season Wallace has gradually managed to be competitive, and 2022 is shaping up to be his best season yet.

It can be observed that Jordan and Hamlin feel confident in the talent that is Bubba Wallace. With results that have compounded into a successful season, Wallace’s potential is just finally being discovered. With Bubba Wallace being a significant figure in the black community, the driver and the team have received varying levels of attention. Some of the aforementioned attention is positive and has brought new partnerships for the driver of the No. 23. Plenty of this attention has been negative, and has continued to hinder Wallace’s image today. Above and beyond the attention that Wallace has received, his racing performance is what has secured an extended contract with 23XI Racing.

You can catch Bubba Wallace hit this track this coming race weekend during the “Go Bowling” at the Glen, at New York’s Watkins Glen International. Race coverage will be begin on August 21st at 3:00 PM ET, airing live on USA Network. Special race coverage will be available from Stock Car Media on Twitter and Instagram (@StockCarMedia).
