Chase Elliott took home a very memorable victory on Sunday, July 10th after winning the NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway: His home track.

"Awesome Chase from the same place" joined his father Bill Elliott as a race winner at the 1.5-mile track in Atlanta, Georgia. Both Elliott's were born in Dawsonville, Georgia, just under 100-miles from the speedway.

Elliott completely dominated the race, winning both of the first two stage points, and leading 96 of the 260-laps. Other drivers weren't as lucky, as fast drivers like Tyler Reddick and William Bryon were involved in an incident just after the Stage 1 break. Despite 13 caution flags were shown, the race ended in regulation.

Extreme underdog driver Corey LaJoie used a pit strategy to take the front and he stayed there for a while. Near the end and in multiple restarts, he led an overall 17-laps, almost scoring his first win before a block from Chase Elliott moved the No. 7 car into the wall, getting scored with a 21st place showing.
