Austin Hill wins the 2022 Xfinity Series "Alsco Uniforms" 250 at Atlanta

Rookie driver Austin Hill held off the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to score his second victory of the season, and his first ever win at his home-town track. The No. 21 led the most laps of the race, 73 to be exact, and also the most in his Xfinity Series career so far. Hill won over runner-up Josh Berry by a mere .111 second margin, the closest finish ever in NASCAR Xfinity Series history.

The lead changed hands 17 times throughout the course of the race, but there were only seven drivers who actually led laps, those being Austin Hill, Josh Berry, Ryan Truex, Tyler Reddick, A.J. Allmendinger, Sheldon Creed, and Ty Gibbs. On only the third lap of the race, Jesse Iwuji spun out and made contact with the wall, giving his car a flat left rear tire plus some quarter panel damage, and causing the first caution flag of the race to fly.

Josh Berry and A.J. Allmendinger raced side-by-side towards the end of the first stage, with Ty Gibbs and Noah Gragson right behind them. On the final lap of stage one, Gibbs gave Berry's No. 8 racecar a shove from behind, pushing Berry past Allmendinger to the lead, and ultimately the stage win. For the end of stage two, Sheldon Creed and Austin Hill battled for the stage win; Creed passed Hill for the lead, but Hill performed a crossover move on Creed and took the second stage win.

On lap 93, the No. 98 of Riley Herbst and the No. 54 of Ty Gibbs, restarted together on the front row, and although they were both sponsored by Monster Energy, they did not work together very well. Herbst, who was working the inside lane, moved up the racetrack and caught the nose of Gibbs, pushing Gibbs into the wall and giving Gibbs a flat tire plus a lot of damage to his racecar. The result of that incident a DNF (Did Not Finish) for Ty Gibbs, but Herbst stayed fairly competitive for the rest of the race and finished the race in 9th.
