Dale Earnhardt, Jr, NASCAR Hall of Famer and a former driver for Hendrick Motorsports, had a huge role in the design of this paint scheme. JR Motorsports designer Ryan Williams, with a lot of collaboration with Earnhardt, came up with this vibrant, pink and purple Ally scheme for the No. 48 car.
There are many hidden details in this paint scheme that are directly related to Nashville, Tennessee. On the point of the cars nose, there is a headstock of a guitar inlaid into the strip going up across the hood. Also, where the jack-posts are located underneath the car, there is a neon green, guitar pick-shaped sticker to help the jackman align the jack to successfully lift the car in the time of a pit stop.
Last year, Hendrick Motorsports held a fan vote for the inaugural "Ally" 400 Alex Bowman Ally paint scheme, without naming the designers. When the blind vote was completed, a brightly colored paint scheme named "Neon Lights" was chosen as the winner, and it was designed by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Earnhardt's "Neon Lights" scheme beat the other car "Music Row", which had been designed by Jeff Gordon.
This scheme will definitely stand out at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday, June 26th. Live television coverage will begin at 5:00 PM EST on NBC.
