Ryan Preece has officially won the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series “Rackley Roofing” 200 at Nashville Superspeedway, bringing his No. 17 Hunt Brother’s Pizza Ford F-150 to the checkered flag merry feet away from his competition.

In 2021 Ryan Preece won this exact race, scoring the victory in what was only his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start. This feat added his name to the list of only five others.

Preece who’s racing career began driving modified race cars across the Northeastern United States has seen it all, even making his way to a full-time ride in the NASCAR Cup Series. Now, for the 2022 season Preece has taken a step back competing only part-time in all three of NASCAR’s National Series.

Although Preece has temporarily said goodbye to full-time racing in 2022, the 31 year old from Berlin, Connecticut has shown top speed this season. Throughout his handful of Teuck Series starts with David Gilliland Racing Preece has shown consistent top-five speed, and  has not finished worse than 11th. For the first time in a year Ryan Preece was able to hold onto that speed and send the No. 17 F-150 to victory lane.

Winning the pole award by one-tenth of a second over Zane Smith, Preece surprisingly sat in second place for a good portion of the race. Zane Smith’s No. 38 which had the advantage of clean air was the truck to beat, until Preece gained the advantage on a restart and was able to drive away.

Due to several late race cautions Ryan Preece found himself surrounded by worthy competitors such as Christian Eckes (driving the No. 98 ThorSport Tundra). Drivers like Eckes gave Preece a run for his money one the several restarts, but with luck Preece eventually pulled ahead.

This success was short lived as in the final 10 laps of the race Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar approached the No. 17 truck. As the tires on the No. 17 F-150 continued to degrade, Smith and Hocevar became scathingly close to Preece, just under two-tenths of a second in difference. Fortunately for Preece and unfortunately for others, Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar instead began to battle for retaining second place. This gave Preece a chance to stay ahead for the final lap of the race and retrieve the checkered flag. Had the race gone any longer, it was Preece’s race to lose.
