Alex Bowman, Ally to honor Mark Martin in 2022 Cup Series Darlington Throwback race

     Hendrick Motorsports unveiled on Tuesday morning (04/12/2022), that Alex Bowman's No. 48 Ally machine will honor NASCAR legend Mark Martin in this year's Throwback race at Darlington Raceway. Martin was one of Alex Bowman's childhood racing heroes and will be paying his dues with a very familiar paint scheme.

Bowman's paint scheme will look like the race winning version of the 1993 "Southern" 500 car, piloted by Mark Martin. Obviously, the colors are those trademarked by Valvoline, which is now a current sponsor of Hendrick Motorsports. Overall, the Ally throwback scheme is very accurate in color, and very sharp in appearance.

The "Goodyear" 400 at Darlington Raceway will take place on Sunday, May 8th. Live race coverage will begin at 3:30 PM EST on FOX Sports 1.
