Precipitation including Snow causes early Red Flag in Xfinity race at Las Vegas

Anything can happen in Las Vegas, Nevada, including snow and rain delaying the NASCAR Xfinity Series "Alsco Uniforms" 300; causing a red flag in the early stages of the race. The sky was clear, the sun was shining with the temperature getting higher than 80 degrees Fahrenheit: all before some grey clouds started rolling in over the speedway.

The clouds brought precipitation which started as rain, eventually turning into snow.

Originally, the caution flag that came out on lap-20 for debris on the racing surface, would end up turning into a 40-minute red flag. While the track was being cleaned up, some drivers commented on some rain drops on their windshields. As the precipitation increased, NASCAR sent out the track jet drying trucks to push any water or snow off the racing surface.

Obviously, that pushed the race's progress off schedule by a little over an hour including the extended yellow flag, making the possibility for track temperature changes as the sun goes down and the warm air cools. We don't know if this will have an, if any effect on who wins this race, but we do know that this type of thing does not happen very often in the Southwestern states. I am sure that it was one of the first times that snow, has caused a NASCAR red flag in Las Vegas.
