On Tuesday, January 4th, the first tests will begin -- being held for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Xfintiy Series teams and drivers. Wednesday, January 4th, and Thursday January 6th, the NASCAR Cup Series teams and drivers will hit the track to do some much needed testing with the new "Next Gen" cars. There were not any confirmed drivers for the Camping World Truck Series and Xfinity Series, however the Cup Series tests will feature three familiar drivers
- Chevrolet - Ross Chastain
- Ford - Chris Buescher
- Toyota - Kurt Busch
After the tire testing is completed, NASCAR will decide on the highly anticipated horsepower/down-force package for the newly reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway. With the repave, NASCAR is expected to use the 510-horsepower package, labeling the track with the superspeedway package which will be used at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.
Atlanta tire testing Tue-Thu next week. Closed to media except for about an hour Thu for video/photos from select locations (my guess is closed to public as well). Tue is Xfinity/trucks-teams TBA. Wed-Thu is Chastain (Chevy), Buescher (Ford) & KuBusch (Toyota).
