It has been announced today that Kaulig Racing will be racing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2022. They have selected Justin Haley to drive their full-time Cup car, and AJ Almendinger is set to drive a second Kaulig entry in select races. Both drivers currently drive for Kaulig Racing's NASCAR Xfinity Series team.
They purchased 2 of the 3 Spire Motorsports charters, the old No. 77 charter and the other charter that is currently being leased by Trackhouse Racing. Unless Trackhouse finds another charter to lease or purchase, they could potentially be a part-time team for 2022.
Haley's assumed car number will be the No. 16, as that is what Kaulig Racing has used in the part-time Cup Series schedule this year.
