Richard Childress Racing |
Tuesday evening (5/4/21) Richard Childress Racing announced that for this Sunday’s throwback race at Darlington Raceway, Tyler Reddick will be bringing a paint scheme that throws-back to Marty Robbins.
This car will carry sponsorship from Quartz Hill Records, and feature country musician Joe Nichols, featuring his new song “Home Run”. This sponsorship is actually fairly significant due to the fact that the driver that is being thrown back to, Marty Robbins, was also (and primarily) a country and western singer/musician, recording chart topping hits from the 1950’s all the way through to the 1970’s.
On the side, Robbins had a fairly successful racing career, scoring one top-5, and six top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Cup Series, before passing away due to a heart attack at the age of 57. Robbins often drove a purple and yellow race car (see below), throughout his roughly 16 year racing career.
You can catch Tyler Reddick’s throwback paint scheme hit the track this Sunday, March 9th, during the “Goodyear” 400 at Darlington Raceway. The race will begin at 3:30 PM ET, and will be aired live on FOX Sports 1.
