Kyle Busch Motorsports |
Kyle Busch has won the “Wise Power” 200 at Kansas Speedway, scoring his whopping 61st victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
After two overtime attempts, Kyle Busch, who looked to be falling off the pace managed to bring his No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota Tundra to the lead. Going into overtime appeared to be a threat for Busch, as restarts had simply not gone his way all evening. Surprisingly, Kyle Busch, who had led a large potion of the race (per usual), was able to dominate those two final laps getting past a hard charging Ross Chastain.
This race at Kansas really saw some of the series’ young drivers get an opportunity to show their racing abilities. One of these drivers is Hailie Deegan, who made her NASCAR Truck Series debut here last fall (Fall 2020). Hailie was able to wheel her truck in to the top-10 and keep it there for a decent amount of time, and overall keep it in the top-15 to finish 13th. Another young driver who showed some amazing skill during this race was Carson Hocevar. While Hocevar did not finish nearly as good as Hailie Deegan, on lap 71 we watched Hocevar completely lose control of his truck, then like a miracle, regain control of it, without collecting any other trucks, or severely damaging his own. Hocevar, went on to finish 23rd.
These kind of moments really brought excitement to this race, when it was otherwise lacking. Kansas Speedway may not be Talladega, or Daytona... but it kept things entertaining for the most part throughout this race.
Race winner Kyle Busch swept this race, winning all three stages at Kansas Speedway.
