John Hunter Nemechek wins at Las Vegas

Kyle Busch Motorsports

John Hunter Nemechek scored a victory last night in the Camping World Truck Series “Bucked Up” 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Nemechek’s win at Las Vegas marks his first victory with Truck Series powerhouse Kyle Busch Motorsports, driving the No. 4 Toyota. Aside from Nemechek’s win, the team had a successful night with a one-two finish, Nemechek winning, and team owner Kyle Busch finishing 2nd in the No. 51 Toyota.

Another story line that played a large role in this race was the involvement of the series title sponsor, Camping World. In last nights race we saw the following trucks sponsored by camping world; the No. 2, No. 3, No. 6, No. 9, No. 24, No. 33, No. 34, No, 41, No. 56, and the No. 75. That’s a lot of trucks, huh?! The reason that so many trucks wheeled the Camping World livery in last night’s race is because Camping World CEO, Marcus Lemonis, made a proposal to sponsor any truck that was lacking sponsorship for the race. Of course many teams took this amazing opportunity to gain sponsorship. The two best finishing trucks with Camping World sponsorship were the No. 9 of Grant Enfinger, and the No. 75 of Parker Kliggerman, who both finished in the Top-10. Based on Marcus Lemonis’ pricing, both of these trucks earned $25,000 for their finish.

I suppose the fact that so many drivers were lacking sponsorship for this race should be quite alarming, though Marcus Lemonis’ generous contribution to the sport really got the spotlight.

Overall this race was fairly decent, with a minimal number of cautions, eluding to a promising weekend for the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series races at the track.

John Hunter Nemechek won both stage 1 and stage 3 of this race, Kyle Busch won stage 2.
