Bristol Dirt to return in 2022

     After this evenings NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Vice President of Bristol Motor Speedway, Jerry Caldwell announced that the Bristol Dirt will be returning in 2022 for the Spring race at Bristol. 


To create a dirt surface on top of the concrete at Bristol Motor Speedway, truck loads of saw dust and clay soil were brought in, and crews worked very meticulously for months to get everything just right. Many series’ joined in on the fun at Bristol, including NASCAR’s premier series, for their first race on a dirt surface since 1970. 


This announcement means a lot of work for Bristol Motor Speedway, as crews will have to eventually tear down the dirt surface, for the NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops Night Race, this upcoming September on the traditional concrete surface. In order to run the dirt race again in 2022, crews will have rebuild the dirt track all over again.
