In yesterday’s inaugural “Food City Dirt Race” at Bristol Motor Speedway, Erik Jones finished 9th, scoring his best finish yet in the Richard Petty Motorsports No. 43.
Erik Jones, who is not well known for his dirt racing experience, is well known for his racing ability at Bristol Motor Speedway. In his Cup Series career driving arguably better equipment, Jones has finished within the top-5 at Bristol Motor Speedway on four separate occasions. During Jones’ time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series he scored 2 wins, and 4 top-10s at Bristol Motor Speedway.
While this yesterdays race was obviously not Jones’ best finish at the track, this was Richard Petty Motorsports’ best finish at Bristol Motor Speedway since 2014 when Aric Almirola finished 3rd.
Proud of my @Tide / @FoodCity team. Great run today on the dirt at Bristol. Finished P9. A step in the right direction. 😎 @TeamChevy pic.twitter.com/SESSHszMp9
