It has recently come to my attention that many of you are wondering who can and who cannot race in the 2021 Busch Clash. For that reason I wrote this article, and hopefully after reading it you will know exactly who will be competing in next weeks exhibition race!
First off, the 43rd running of the Busch Clash will take place next Tuesday, Feb 9th at 7:00 PM. The Clash will be run on the Daytona Road Course at Daytona International Speedway, and will have two stages (Stage one will finish after 15 laps).
For a driver to be eligible for the Bush Clash, they are required to have earned one of the following feats:
- 2020 Busch Pole Award winners
- Past Busch Clash Winners who competed full-time in 2020
- Daytona 500 Champions who competed full-time in 2020
- Former Daytona 500 Busch Pole Winners who competed full-time in 2020
- 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff drivers
- 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Race winners
- 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Stage winners
With the above in mind, that means that these drivers will be eligible for the Clash:
- Aric Almirola (No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing)
- Ryan Blaney (No. 12 Team Penske)
- Alex Bowman (No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports)
- Clint Bowyer *
- Chris Buescher (No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing)
- Kurt Busch (No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing)
- Kyle Busch (No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing)
- William Byron (No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports)
- Cole Custer (No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing)
- Matt DiBenedetto (No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing)
- Austin Dillon (No. 3 Richard Childress Racing)
- Ty Dillon (Confirmed, No. 23 23XI Racing)
- Chase Elliott (No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports)
- Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing)
- Kevin Harvick (No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing)
- Jimmie Johnson *
- Erik Jones (No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports)
- Matt Kenseth *
- Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Team Penske)
- Joey Logano (No. 22 Team Penske)
- Ryan Newman (No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing)
- Tyler Reddick (No. 8 Richard Childress Racing)
- Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing)
- Martin Truex, Jr. (No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing)
* Drivers have no plan to participate
Ty Dillon’s situation is questionable, rumors say he may run the Clash for 23XI Racing, who’s driver Bubba Wallace does not qualify for the Clash. (Rumor confirmed)
I hope this was helpful, and now you might know a little more about this year’s Busch Clash, and who you can expect to see on track!
