It has been announced that Tony Stewart will be making his NHRA debut with McPhillips Racing during the NHRA Nevada Nationals, beginning this Friday. The event will be held at The Strip, which is located inside Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and will be on October 28th - 30th.
Stewart remarks, "I'm excited and nervous at the same time. It's definitely going to be a big learning curve, and to do it at a national event right out of the gate adds to the challenge. But it's something I've been really wanting to do, and I've been working towards this moment. I'm not taking it lightly. It's a serious business, and I'm going to be as prepared as possible when I get to Las Vegas. The team I'm driving for, McPhillips Racing, has been awesome to work with. They felt like I was ready to compete. With their confidence, that has given me the confidence and courage to try something new and take the leap."
Stewart will have the support from Mobil 1, a long-time partner of both Stewart Haas Racing and Stewart. Mobil 1 was a sponsor and technical partner for Stewart in 2011 when the NASCAR legend won his third and final NASCAR Cup Series championship. Mobil 1 is also a partner of Tony Stewart Racing in the both the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

This NHRA debut will only add on to an already impressive racing resume. Stewart has competed in about every level of motorsports possible, some of these being NASCAR, USAC, IMSA, and INDYCAR, plus several sprint car series, including World of Outlaws and All-Star Circuit of Champions. On top of that, Stewart drove a F1 car during a Mobil 1 promotional event. Stewart is also a co-owner of Stewart Haas Racing, a top-tier NASCAR team.
