It is the waiting game for news on whether Martin Truex, Jr. is planning to stay competing in the NASCAR Cup Series for another year or so, or will he be retiring at the end of the 2022 season.

Truex signed a contract extension early last year with Joe Gibbs Racing to drive the No. 19 Toyota Camry for the 2022 Season. However, that contract extension's expiration date is at the end of this year, making a huge play in the NASCAR "Silly Season", as we like to call it.

According to the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series Champion, he hinted that a decision is coming soon during some interviews at Worldwide Technology Raceway on Sunday, June 5th. “Everybody asks me, but I still don’t have any news,” he said. “I’ll let you know when I find out.”

The "Enjoy Illinois" 300 at Gateway was also a big milestone race for Truex, being his 600th NASCAR Cup Series start.
