Daniel Suárez got the monkey off his back, after breaking a 194-race losing streak by scoring a victory in the NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday, June 12th at Sonoma Raceway. It was "Win Numero Uno" for the veteran Mexican driver. Leading a race-high of 47-laps, Suárez became the first driver from Mexico to win at the NASCAR Cup Series level.

Polesitter Kyle Larson lead every lap until the end of Stage 1, while Stage 2 had multiple leaders. Chase Elliott would lead until a huge mistake by his pit crew, giving him a penalty and loss on race position and Stage points. Joey Logano would slip to the lead for the extra playoff point.

Ford teams had a strong showing, with Chris Buescher contending for the win almost all race long, eventually finishing runner-up. Michael McDowell and Kevin Harvick also had fast Ford Mustangs, that scored a top-5 finish a-piece. Trackhouse Racing had the top Chevrolet's, with Suárez as the race winner and Ross Chastain came home 7th. The highest Toyota driver was Kurt Busch, who scored an 18th place finish. The lone Chevrolet-driver of Suárez held off the Ford Mustangs that occupied the remaining 4 spots in the top-5.

The only driver to not finish the race this weekend was Bubba Wallace, whose No. 23 Toyota Camry blew an engine on the ninth lap into the event.
