Chase Elliott to miss Xfinity Series race at Darlington with JR Motorsports due to rain

Due to a rain cancelled qualifying session at Darlington Raceway, Chase Elliott will not make the field for this weekend's NASCAR Xfinity Series race. Elliott was one of three Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Cup Series drivers planned to make a start or two in the JR Motorsports extra entry. For Elliott, the spring race at Darlington Raceway was to be his only start for the season.

Elliott, a former NASCAR Xfinity Series champion for JR Motorsports, was set to pilot the No. 88 HendrickCars.com sponsored Chevrolet Camaro for the Darlington Throwback weekend: That is until Mother Nature had other plans.

After about a dozen cars completed their qualifying laps, the sky's opened up, dropping a quick, but hard rain. It looked like things would clear up and possibly stay clear of anything else, but a bunch of storm cells ended up letting loose. Cancelling the qualifying session all together. The race lineup would be set by a certain metrics system created by NASCAR.

As 40-cars were entered for the 2022 "Mahindra ROXOR" 200, two drivers and teams wouldn't make the race no matter if they qualified or not. Unfortunately, along with Elliott, Brennan Poole will also miss the race in the No. 47 car.
