JR Motorsports to bring No. 88 entry to 5 extra races in 2022: Larson, Elliott, and Bryon bring HendrickCars.com sponsorship

JR Motorsports
It appears to be that a few NASCAR Cup Series drivers for Hendrick Motorsports will be "bushwhacking" throughout the 2022 season. Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and William Byron will split 5 dates in the JR Motorsports No. 88 entry, looking for seat-time and possibly a checkered flag or two in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this year.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. piloted the No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro during the spring race at Martinsville Speedway, and the car will be fielded for Miguel Paludo for select races. Leaving the entry just to sit in the JR Motorsports garage for a major part of the season.

There really is no shocking point about the Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Cup Series drivers getting a race or two in the 5th JRM car, just looking for checkered flags and trophies to add to the collection. JR Motorsports has a technical alliance from the 14-time NASCAR Cup Series championship winning team. HendrickCars.com, which is also owned by Rick Hendrick, will sponsor the three drivers' efforts in the lower series.

Kyle Larson, the reigning 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion is no surprise, especially with backing from HendrickCars.com. Chase Elliott is a former series champion for JR Motorsports, bringing Napa Auto Parts back to the organization as an associate sponsor. William Byron also won a NASCAR Xfinity Series championship with JR Motorsports, now just looking for his first win in the series since the title winning season of 2017.

Here is a peek at the No. 88 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro's 2022 schedule per driver:

  • Darlington Raceway - Saturday, May 7th [Chase Elliott]
  • Texas Motor Speedway - Saturday, May 21st [William Byron]
  • New Hampshire Motor Speedway - Saturday, July 16th [William Byron]
  • Watkins Glen International - Saturday, August 20th [Kyle Larson]
  • Darlington Raceway - Saturday, September 3rd [Kyle Larson]
