Joey Logano set to use backup car for "Daytona" 500 after crash in Duel race

After a last lap incident during the second "Bluegreen Vacations" Duel race on Thursday evening (02/17/2022), Team Penske had to bring out the backup No. 22 Ford Mustang for Joey Logano to race on Sunday. This will mean that Joey Logano will have to start at the tail end of the 40-car field in the "Daytona" 500.

Logano had been racing with Chris Buescher for the lead after the white flag, when Buescher brought his No. 17 car below the No. 22, and Logano appeared to throw a bad block, after which Ford Mustangs tangled together and Logano's car was headed into the SAFER barrier while Buescher won the race. The incident was purely a mistake, as all the drivers are still figuring this new car out, trying to learn all they can before the first official points-paying race.

Just under two-weeks ago, Joey Logano had come out victorious at the "Busch Light Clash", which was held inside the L.A. Coliseum.

The 2022 "Daytona" 500 at none other than Daytona International Speedway will take place on Sunday, February 20th. Live television will begin broadcasting the race at 2:30 PM EST on FOX.
