Starting lineup for Cup Series Food City Dirt Race

     As rain has canceled the qualifying heat races for the NASCAR Cup Series “Food City Dirt Race” at Bristol motor speedway, NASCAR has selected the starting lineup for this race. The No. 5 of Kyle Larson is selected to start in the pole position, alongside Denny Hamlin driving the No. 11, who is selected to start second. 

The starting positions were determined by: a driver’s finish in the last race (25%), the owner’s finish in the last race (25%), 2021 owner points (35%), and the driver’s fastest lap ranking in the previous race (15%).

During yesterday’s Cup Series practice Kyle Larson’s No. 5 Camaro ZL1 1LE received a engine change, which constitutes a penalty of starting at the rear of the field. This will therefore mean that the No. 11 of Denny Hamlin, and the No. 12 of Ryan Blaney will share the front row for the start of this race.
