AJ Allmendinger wins pole for "Production Alliance Group" 300 at Auto Club

    The qualifying session for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Auto Club Speedway is complete, with veteran driver AJ Allmendinger taking the pole award from a fast-lap time of 40.038 seconds (179.829 MPH). This will be Allmendinger's first pole on an oval since the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway.

NASCAR Cup Series driver Cole Custer will return for some "Busch-wacking" this weekend, as he will sit behind the wheel during the NASCAR Xfinity Series race as well. The term "Busch-wacking" dates back to when the series name was the "NASCAR Busch Series", and a top-level NASCAR driver would race a random Busch Series race just to win.
