A familiar name in the NASCAR Cup Series, David Ragan competed full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for more than 15 years. Ragan drove for teams such as Joe Gibbs Racing, Roush Fenway Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing, and Front Row Motorsports, all before he announced his retirement from full-time competition in 2019. In that time frame Ragan racked up four victories, 34 top-five finishes, 99 top-10 finishes, and an impressive six pole awards.
While Ragan’s most competitive days may be coming to an end, that doesn’t mean that the 36 year old driver can’t bring value to a team like Rick Ware Racing. Rick Ware Racing, who will be downsizing to two full time cars in 2022, aims to become a more competitive organization. Often a joke by casual NASCAR fans, Rick Ware Racing’s performance has not been up to par with teams around them, but in 2022 as the team downsizes and gains assistance from Ford Performance, we may see a competitive edge from the team. Additionally David Ragan’s thorough knowledge of the sport could be helpful, even if his attempt will only be part-time.
You can catch David Ragan take the wheel once again on Sunday, February 20th, 2022, during the 64th running of the “Daytona” 500. Race coverage will begin at 2:30 PM and will be aired live on FOX.
