Kyle Larson gets new HendrickCars.com paint scheme for 2022, and new fire suit for "Hendrick Country"

HendrickCars.com
Early on Monday afternoon (1/10/21) Hendrick Motorsports, Kyle Larson, and HendrickCars.com revealed a new paint scheme for Kyle Larson's No. 5 team in 2022. The historic Hendrick Cars paint scheme, originally run by Ricky Hendrick will for the first time (in a long time) see some changes to its format. While the design canvas will remain mostly unchanged, the HendrickCars.com logo, and the No. 5 door number will be relocated and readjusted.

Although these changes are minor, they are certainly changes to the Hendrick Cars paint scheme, which will adorn Kyle Larson's No. 5 machine for a majority of the 2022 season. These changes are only being made due to a recent change in NASCAR rule, which we believe requires all teams to bring their numbers forward and closer to the A-pillar. As it is clearly visible, the No. 5 now does reside closer to the front wheel well, and underneath the A-pillar. As these changes were made to allow for more sponsor value, Hendrick Motorsposrt' graphic design team took advantage of this new room, and blew up the HendrickCars.com logo significantly (see a side-view below).

While the changes to the No. 5 machine may not be huge, changes to Kyle Larson's uniform will be far less subtle. With today' announcement Hendrick Motorsports has unveiled a new fire suit schedule to the driver of the No. 5. Kyle Larson will wear two firesuits in 2022, a classic looking blue fire suit to indicate races where the No. 5 crew is away from a Hendrick Cars location, and a white (and some blue) fire suit to indicate when the No. 5 crew is in "Hendrick Country", or near a Hendrick Cars location. As has been the case on the other Hendrick Motorsports paint schemes for 2022, a Chevrolet bow-tie will appear on the hood of the 2022 Camaro ZL1 race car. Many fans have begun to express their disapproval of this Hendrick standard, citing how out of place it appears. While it does look quite odd, especially above the OEM required bow-tie on the grill, its purpose is likely to show the brand image better from aerial views on television. It is important to note that this change is only being made by Hendrick Motorsports, and as far as we know other teams have not joined in, and will not be adding a second bow-tie.

The HendrickCars.com No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro will hit the track for 34 of the 36 races on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule in 2022. Be sure to keep an eye out for this new look for the No. 5 machine, it's sure to be a part of the story line this upcoming season!
