Brandon Jones, driver of the No. 19 Toyota Supra in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing, was announced to return to the car in 2022. It will mark Jones' 7th full-time season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and 5th with Joe Gibbs Racing. Menard's will also stay with the No. 19 team as the primary sponsor for all 33 races next year. Crew chief Jeff Meendering will return to make calls for Jones next year as well.
This currently makes Jones the only slated full-time driver for the JGR Xfinity team next year, as other current drivers Daniel Hemric will be moving to Kaulig Racing, and Harrison Burton will go Cup racing with Wood Brothers Racing. Leaving the team with two open rides for the next season.
Jones, who has 4 career Xfinity wins, is currently winless this season. He made his way into the playoffs on points, and advanced past the Round of 12, but chances of him making it into the Championship 4 is already looking slim. After Texas, he sits in 8th and 60 points under the cutline. Two of his four victories have come at the Xfinity Series next stop; Kansas. With back-to-back victories at Kansas Speedway, Jones maybe has a slight advantage in the next race.
Whether Brandon Jones makes it to the Championship 4 this year, and wins the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship, we will never know, but it will be interesting to see what next year has in store for him and many other drivers.
