Brandon Brown wins NASCAR Xfinity Series “Sparks” 300 at Talladega Superspeedway

Bob Crisp/The Daily Home

Brandon Brown has won the NASCAR Xfinity Series “Sparks” 300 at Talladega Superspeedway, scoring his first career victory and his team, Brandonbilt Motorsports’ best finish to this date.

Tonight’s race was cut about 9 laps short due to early onset darkness at Talladega Superspeedway, as the result of an approaching weather front. Brandon Brown who had been competing at the front of the field, was battling for the lead when drivers like Brett Moffitt, Riley Herbst, Harrison Burton, John Hunter Nemechek, and others were involved in a wreck bringing out the caution. Due to the approaching darkness, the race would not have an opportunity to restart, and with the help of NASCAR’s loop scoring and timing, Brandon Brown was declared the leader at the time of caution, and has become the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ newest winner.

Brandon Brown and his family’s Brandonbilt Motorsports is an extremely small team (next to powerhouse organizations like Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske), this victory means the world to the group. It was only a few months ago that the future of Brandonbilt Motorsports was hazy, as the team had trouble securing sponsorship for about half of the season. It was at the time that the now famous video arose, with Brandon Brown dressed up as a used car salesman and advertising the team’s sponsorship vacancy (see the video below):

This race was full of Talladega’s trademarked colorful action, seeing drivers like Riley Herbst and Blaine Perkins (yes, you heard me right) battle for the stage won. Other edge of your seat moments that we saw during this race was when AJ Allmendinger, Sam Mayer, Brandon Brown, and Brett Moffitt went four wide, sending Sam Mayer and AJ Allmendinger barreling towards each other. Both Mayer’s No. 8 and Allmendinger’s No. 16 Camaros would be done for the day. We also saw Brett Moffitt get involved yet again in another wreck, being sent sideways into Noah Bragson, and Gragson’s No. 9 Camaro being sent head first into the outside retaining wall, then back into traffic taking out drivers like Myatt Snider, Cesar Bacarella, Santino Ferucci, Kyle Weatherman, and others.

Unfortunately as fans of Auto Racing we did not get to see drivers battle with all their might right down to the finish line, but with the action we saw throughout the race, it was definitely made up for.

Congratulations to Brandon Brown on this milestone finish! We’re sure there will be more to come, especially with this new momentum! Sincerely, your pals at Stock Car Media

John Hunter Nemechek won stage one of this race, and Blaine Perkins won stage two of this race.
