Nick Sanchez to join the NASCAR Xfinity Series part-time in 2022, racing for BJ McLeod Motorsports in several events

It was announced this morning (10/19/21) that Nick Sanchez, a part of NASCAR's drive for diversity program, will advance from the ARCA Menards Series (East) to drive on a part-time basis for BJ McLeod Motorsports in several NASCAR Xfinity Series during the 2022 season.

Sanchez, who got his start driving late models in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series, joined Rev Racing in the ARCA Menards Series East in 2020, and since then he's been like lightning in a bottle. Sanchez finished third in the ARCA Menards Series East standings in 2020, and in 2021 (this year) he ran as a consistent top-15 driver.

In response to his latest announcement, Sanchez explained his thoughts saying, “The significance of this next step is very meaningful for me... It’ll obviously be my first time participating in one of the top three series of NASCAR, which is something I’ve always dreamed of ever since I started racing."

Like his Rev Racing counterpart, Rajah Caruth, Sanchez is a young racer and destined for competition, but both will have to work their way to success. Earlier this season it was announced that Martins Motorsports would become Alpha Prime Racing come the 2022 season, and that for several races Rajah Caruth would get behind the wheel of the No. 44 car. Unfortunately, like Martins Motorsports, BJ McLeod Motorsports is not exactly known for its speed or innovation. Either team has top-15 finishes to their name, but consistency is something that could use some improvement. Both small teams will certainly serve as great stables to grow the careers of these young men. Possibly Nick Sanchez and Rajah Caruth can help these small and family operated race teams grow larger and more competitive in the coming years. That will remain unknown, only for the future to tell.

Information regarding sponsorship, car No. and race dates have not been announced at this time for Nick Sanchez. Be sure to follow Stock Car Media as we will make note of those details when they are formally released.
