The starting lineup for the NASCAR Cup Series “Verizon” 200 at the Brickyard (at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course) has been selected. The No. 24 of William Byron will start in the pole position, alongside the No. 14 of Chase Briscoe who will start 2nd.
The starting lineup was selected based on two rounds of qualifying, where in the first the 40 car field is ranked based on a car’s fastest qualifying lap. Cars with the 13th or worse lap times are locked in place, while the cars with the top-12 qualifying laps will qualify a second time, ranking these cars again by fastest lap time. When the two rounds of qualifying are complete, the starting lineup will be locked in place.
