It was announced earlier today (8/31/21) that Noah Gragson will return to JR Motorsports in 2022, to continue driving the No. 9 Bass Pro Shops/Black Riffle Coffee/TrueTimber Chevrolet Camaro.
For the 3rd season in a row, 23 year old Noah Gragson will have a chance to drive and win races for Dale Earnhardt Jr.‘ s NASCAR Xfinity Series team. Gragson, with 89 career Xfinity Series starts is hungry for a third trip to victory lane for his race team and sponsors, this opportunity for him could be the key to scoring it. Coming off of 2020’s two win season for Gragson, he has come close multiple times this season with eight Top-5 and fourteen Top-10 finishes.
Gragson started his NASCAR career with an oh-so-familiar Kyle Busch Motorsports in the now NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. In the No. 18 truck he saw a two victories at Martinsville and Kansas Speedways (respectively). Prior to Gragson’s time with JR Motorsports he made 3 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts with Joe Gibbs Racing, finishing 2nd at Richmond in his series debut. Tracks like Daytona have been Gragson’s strong spots, and earlier this season Beard Motorsports took note of that. Beard Motorsports gave Noah Gragson an opportunity to drive their No. 62 Beard Oil Camaro in the 2021 “Daytona” 500. Unfortunately for everyone involved did not qualify high enough to make the main event, and after glimpses of speed during speed weeks and the recent loss of Mark Beard Sr., the team returned home heartbroken and with little to show.
Gragson’s chance to drive in the Cup Series will return, when and with who has yet to be determined, but without a doubt he will earn another opportunity to show his talent. Due to the highly saturated field (especially going into the Gen-7 era), this feat could be pushed further out on the calendar.
JR Motorsports noted that further details surrounding Noah Gragson and his paint scheme for next season will be announced at a later date. Return to Stock Car Media as we will post on the matter when further information is released.
