Following the “Ally” 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, Hendrick Motorsports’ driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro; Chase Elliott, has been disqualified from his 13th place finish. NASCAR explained that the reason for Chase Elliott’s disqualification was that the No. 9 car had a total of FIVE loose lug-nuts. According to NASCAR’s rule book, three or more loose lug-nuts will result in a disqualification for the driver in question.
Towards the end of this race, Elliott reported that something was wrong with his right rear wheel, as he assumed it may have been loose. Without a definite answer, and track position being critical, the No. 9 team decided to stay out, which has now cost them a pretty penny. Hendrick Motorsports had made a statement claiming that a vibration in the car was the reason for these five loose lug-nuts, and not an irresponsible pit-stop. Whether that statement is factual or not remains unknown.
Chase Elliott in all aspects won stage 1 of the “Ally” 400, though due to his disqualification the No. 1 of Kurt Busch will assume the stage winning position, and will earn the stage points. This disqualification will leave Chase Elliott with a 39th place finish, which certainly appears to be one of his worst finishes of this season.
If it had come off and we crash, we would then get to keep our stage points? Honest question https://t.co/XP11khBiv4
