Hendrick Motorsports announced today that Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48, will remain at the team through the 2023 NASCAR season. This two year contract means that Bowman will continue to drive in the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro, and will be primarily sponsored by Ally throughout the contract's time period. This announcement was realized the same weekend as Ally is the title sponsor for the NASCAR triple-header weekend at Nashville Superspeedway.
Alex Bowman originally joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2016, before being signed on full-time, as he filled in for an injured Dale Earnhardt, Jr.. When Dale Jr. retired from full time racing at the end of the 2017 season, Bowman would fill the seat of the No. 88. Most recently when Jimmy Johnson retired at the end of the 2020 season, Rich Hendrick moved Alex Bowman to the No. 48, where he has landed two wins thus far in the 2021 season. Those two races would be; the “Toyota Owners” 400 at Richmond Raceway on April 8th, and has also won the “Drydene” 400 at Dover International Speedway on May 16th.
What a way to kick off #Ally400 weekend! Cheers to two more years, @Alex_Bowman! We are so excited to continue to be your ally! pic.twitter.com/PWkDnHCr3A
