Austin Cindric wins Xfinity race at Dover

Team Penske

Austin Cindric has won the “Drydene” 200 at Dover International Speedway, scoring his 3rd victory of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

During this race, the “Monster Mile” lived up to its name, putting on some wild racing. For the most part, we really saw the JR Motorsports Camaros dominate this race, with the No. 7 of Justin Allgaier, and the No. 8 of Josh Berry leading the field for a majority of the race. Though these drivers had the speed, they didn’t have it when they needed it the most, that being the final laps. Austin Cindric had a decent car all day, and towards the end of the it only got better.

While this race saw lots of shoving and a few larger wrecks, one of the most notable incidents of this race was when the No. 78 of Jesse Little, the No. 92 of Josh Williams, and the No. 13 of Matt Jaskol all went spinning on the back stretch eventually colliding with each other. This incident was really not the best looking from first glance, as the No. 13 car sat on top of the No. 78, but in review it was really just collision that went a little too far. The brought out the red flag, and was the end of the day for all 3 drivers involved.

Some of that pushing and shoving that we saw came from none other than 18 year old Ty Gibbs, as he moved the No. 2 of Myatt Snider out of the way with a nudge, and coming off of turn four got into the side of the No. 22 of Austin Cindric. In both cases, the drivers were miraculously able to save it, especially Austin Cindric who became extremely loose, and was all out of control. Another notable name who participated in this action was John Hunter Nemechek. Nemechek, a Cup Series driver last year, and a now driving in the Camping World Truck Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports, made a one off start today in the Xfinity Series. During this race his experience shined, he did not go easy on most drivers, especially Riley Herbst. Herbst, driving the No. 98 for Stewart-Haas Racing was noticeably holding up the field, Nemechek who was running very low on patience gave Herbst a nudge, sending the No. 98 down onto the apron, as the field flew by.

During this race, Justin Allgaier won stage 1, Josh Berry won stage 2 (and this week’s “Dash for Cash”) and of course Austin Cindric won the final stage, and the entirety of the race.
