Yesterday (5/20/21) Hendrick Motorsports announced that Alex Bowman would receive a brand new patriotic paint scheme, for next weekend’s “Coca-Cola” 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Bowman’s paint scheme will feature a matte-black look, and Stars and Stripes in honor of not only Memorial Day, and all those who have sacrificed their life for our country, but specifically for Captain Matt Brewer.
Captain Matt Brewer was an accomplished individual who served in the Untied States Marine Corps, after graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 2013. Captain Matt Brewer was deployed in Japan, Korea, and Mali.
When Brewer’s military career came to an end, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the United Nations Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal for his dedication to the U.S. military.
Unfortunately, Captain Matt Brewer passed away over the past winter, on February 19th, 2021, after a lengthy battle with degenerative brain disorder, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Alex Bowman will honor Captain Matt Brewer with this paint scheme next Sunday, May 30th, during the “Coca-Cola” 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Race coverage will begin at 6:00 PM ET, and will be aired live on FOX.
