Martin Truex Jr. wins Truck Series race at Bristol dirt

Kyle Busch Motorsports

Martin Truex Jr. has won the “Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt” at Bristol Motor Speedway, earning his first career victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Truex drove the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 51.

The Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt, scheduled to run on Saturday March 27th, was postponed two days in a row due to colossal rains, but eventually was able to be run today, Monday March 29th. This race saw drivers from many different racing  backgrounds, behind the wheel. Many of these drivers were a part of this race in order to get practice for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race at the track this afternoon, though some of these drivers have extensive dirt racing experience. Some fans may have expected these well experienced dirt racers to dominate, but it’s safe to say Cup Series regular Martin Truex Jr., who has very little dirt racing experience, was not expected to dominate the way that he did.

Truex started this race from row eight, in the 15th position, and on lap 43 obtained the lead from Stewart Friesen, and held onto it for the remaining 47 laps of the race.

One driver who performed well during this race is Ben Rhodes. Ben Rhodes challenged the speed of Martin Truex Jr. for a large portion of the race, but was ultimately unable to make a move and steal the lead. Drivers like Stewart Friesen and Sheldon Creed also showed a lot of speed in the beginning of this race, though as the race continued and track conditions changed, luck ran out for these drivers. Todd Gilliland driving the No. 38 truck shocked many as he worked his way up from 13th to run a solid 3rd, and finish 4th.

This race was very eventful overall, seeing many cautions and red flags due to wrecks, but never failed to be entertaining.

All 3 stages of this race were won by Martin Truex Jr.
