William Byron wins at Homestead Miami Speedway

Hendrick Motorsports

William Byron has won the NASCAR Cup Series “Dixie Vodka” 400 at Homestead Miami Speedway, earning his second win in the series.

The Dixie Vodka 400 began with the No. 22 of Joey Logano and the No. 20 of Christopher Bell on the front row, after pole sitter, Denny Hamlin was forced to start in the back of the field for unapproved adjustments to his car. Even though there was only a few cautions in today’s race, it was still filled with excitement, displaying talent and strategy. Likely the most notable caution that we saw during this race was when the No. 10 of Aric Almirola attempted to clear the No. 12 of Ryan Blaney. Almirola hoped that Blaney might slow down and let him in, Blaney held his line and Almirola proceeded to side into the side of the No. 12 and cause significant damage to both cars.

We saw a lot of leaders during today’s race, some of which were unexpected. One of those leaders who surprised many was Chris Buescher in the No. 17. While few doubt Buescher’s talent, it’s clear to see in the recent years he has just not performed as well as some might had hoped. That made his laps led, and stage win today something very unexpected. Some of the other leaders during today’s race were; Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, William Byron, Martin Truex Jr., and Chase Elliott. Overall, it was Byron and Truex who had the greatest long run speed.

Chris Buescher won stage 1 of this race, alongside William Byron who won both stage 2 and 3 of the race.
