Mark Beard Sr., owner of the No. 62 Beard Motorsports Chevrolet has passed away at the age of 72.
Mark Beard Sr. was the owner and president of Beard Motorsports who fields the No. 62 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series which is used in part to help market his family business, Beard Oil Distributing.
Beard Oil Distributing, the family company of Mark Beard Sr., is a company based in Mount Pleasant Michigan that distributes petroleum based products such as fuel and lubricants across the United States.
While the Family asks for privacy in these devastating times, they also expressed their intent to still compete in the NASCAR Cup Series season opener, the Daytona 500 on Feb. 14th at the Daytona International Speedway. The team announced last month that Xfinity Series regular Noah Gragson would make his NASCAR Cup Series debut with the team.
Mark Beard Sr. himself even drove for his team back in 1982 when he started twice in what is now the NASCAR Xfinity Series. His best finish was 18th.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the team, and the whole Beard family throughout these difficult times.
Our hearts are heavy. pic.twitter.com/st72LcUEm3
