The No. 45 Toyota Camry, originally piloted by Kurt Busch at the start of the 2022 Season, is eligible for the owner's championship via Busch's victory at Kansas Speedway earlier this year. Since Pocono Raceway however, Kurt has been out of the car due to concussion protocols. NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Ty Gibbs drove the machine during the remainder of the regular season, then 23XI Racing swapped Wallace into the No. 45 for the playoffs to compete for the owner's title.
Right-rear tire wear proved to be an issue again at Kansas Speedway, as pole-sitter Tyler Reddick fell victim to the problem and crashed out of the race on lap-67. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Ty Gibbs would also have tire issues throughout the race.
Playoff driver Kevin Harvick's car got loose off of turn 4, hammering the wall, and ending his day very early: just a mere 33-laps into the 400-mile event.
