Ty Gibbs will be in No. 45 Cup car today. He won't get points since he's Xfinity points driver. Kurt Busch (concussion) doesn't get points. Team gets owner points. Busch has waiver to miss race & remain playoff eligible. Gibbs drops to rear for start (backup car/driver change). https://t.co/jKlTBtPXWF

Thus, being his debut race in the NASCAR Cup Series, Gibbs will have a lot to learn as fast as possible, as Busch crash the primary car in qualifying, and the team decided to go with the backup car. One of the biggest things he will have to learn how the NASCAR Cup Series Gen 7 cars handle from the NASCAR Xfinity Series cars. The field is also a whole other game for Gibbs to figure out; how to beat the best of the best.
Gibbs is still a hot topic on the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing car for next year, especially if Kyle Busch does not get the sponsorship he needs. So, if he does well in his debut race, I wouldn't doubt if he gets another shot in the very near future.
