Air Jordan brand to ride with Kurt Busch in 2022 Cup Series race at Kansas

23XI Racing
The "Air Jordan" clothing brand will be riding with Kurt Busch in this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway, appearing as the primary sponsor for the No. 45 Toyota Camry.

"Air Jordan" is owned by none other than basketball legend Michael Jordan, who is also the co-owner of 23XI Racing. The two-car team fields full-time NASCAR Cup Series entries for Kurt Busch and Bubba Wallace; Wallace, is in his second year with the team, while Busch is still the "new guy".

Partnering with three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, Jordan launched a new racing team, now known as 23XI Racing, for its inaugural season in 2021. They signed Bubba Wallace as the team's only driver that year, piloting the No. 23 Toyota Camry. After a pretty successful first season, the organization expanded to a two-car operation, adding veteran driver Kurt Busch to help develop the new team.

“It’s an awesome amount of pressure to race for a living Smithsonian,” Busch said after he joined the team last year. “He’s a legend, he’s the GOAT and arguably the GOAT of all of sports. I’ve just met him once. It was a great discussion that we had, kind of like an interview, and a ‘Yes, we will win together.’ So, it comes with pressure, but I love that.”

The No. 45 Toyota Camry's paint scheme design is inspired by the iconic "Black Cement", Jordan 3 sneakers, complete with a massive Air Jordan logo on the hood.

So, sneaker fans who want to watch this car in action, the NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway will take place on Sunday, May 15th. Live television coverage will begin at 3:00 PM EST on FOX.
