Gibbs, not a very clean racer to say the least, aggressively moved teammate John Hunter Nemechek out of the way on the final lap, forcing his No. 54 machine in front of the No. 18 car to claim the victory. Nemechek, who finished second, wasn't quite happy with Gibbs in his post-race interview. He had led more laps (135 total laps led) and clearly had the better car in the JGR camp all race long, just with the race victory not going in his favor.
Drivers AJ Allmendinger, Austin Hill, Noah Gragson, and Sam Mayer were eligible for the Xfinity "Dash 4 Cash" prize at the end of the race. Gragson showed his strength early, finishing 2nd in the Stage 1, only to eventually fall off the lead lap due to brake failure. AJ Allmendinger, last week's winner at COTA, was in the hunt to pocket the cash, until Sam Mayer blew right past him in the final stages of the race. So, Sam Mayer picked up the $100,000 prize for his No. 1 JR Motorsports team.
It was basically a caution-less race, only one for debris on the racing surface when brake parts began falling off of the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro of Noah Gragson.
Here are the complete race results from the 2022 "ToyotaCare" 250:
