Joe Gibbs Racing came into the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway with high odds to win the event, and as expected, a Toyota Camry visited victory lane after the "Toyota Owners" 400 on Sunday, April 3rd.

Pole-sitter Ryan Blaney took off with the lead right of the start and led every single lap of Stage 1, which totaled up to 70-laps. The No. 12 car held the lead well into Stage 2, until green flag pit stops began to shift the field around. Then Martin Truex, Jr. pushed his No. 19 Toyota Camry to the front, swapping the lead with teammate Christopher Bell a few times before the end of Stage 2, which Truex took the extra playoff point.

Toyota drivers dominated the final stage, even though Hendrick Motorsports William Byron led 122-laps before getting passed by eventual race-winner Denny Hamlin with 5-laps to go. Byron would fall back to finish 3rd after Kevin Harvick pushed his way past to chase Hamlin.
